About
BagLock Travel from Observatory
We make soft pastel locks for South African trips and everyday carry. MD Ayesha Abrahams leads the supplier. Operated by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd.
Soft pastel, solid mechanisms
Our brief is simple: locks that photograph gently and hold when a bag moves through OR Tambo, a Sea Point gym, or a Garden Route boot. We keep blush rare. We keep copy human. We keep mailto as the only form.
HQ sits in Observatory, Cape Town, with stockist pickups across Gauteng, KZN, and more Cape malls.
How we work
We design and refine locks with SA weeks in mind. Domestic hops get Cabin Mini. Hubs get South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Duo. Softshells get Cable Loop. Gyms get Gym Clip. Kits stitch those into checklists you can run without a binder.
Dont expect a dark SaaS portal. Expect pastel cards, calm guides, and shop@ replies.

Practical notes for busy weeks
Zipper pulls that feel smooth in the shop can snag after a dusty bus ride. A dab of dry lube beats forcing the slider and tearing tape. If your soft-shell has a cable loop, thread it through the zipper holes the same way every time so muscle memory holds when you are tired after a long haul.
Airport lighting is harsh on brushed metal finishes. What looked stealthy at home can flash under halogen. We keep finish swatches on the counter so people can compare under a lamp that is closer to departure halls than showroom spots. Ask about airline size rules for the routes you actually fly; brochure maxima are optimistic.
Family kits travel better when each bag has a quiet ID tag that is not your home address. Use a shop email and a local number that gets answered. Photograph the lock face and the bag scar before you leave. Claims counters like boring evidence more than dramatic stories. Replace batteries on electronic seals on a calendar, not when they die mid-trip.
Luggage locks earn trust when the combination is set before the first trip, not in a rush at check-in. We walk customers through a quiet reset so airport security staff and family members are not making up numbers in a queue. Keep the spare key card in a different bag. The obvious pocket is where pickpockets look first.
Airport baggage suppliers still remind travellers to keep valuables out of checked bags and to lock or wrap what goes below. We agree. A lock is a calm habit, not a guarantee, and it pairs best with cabin-side phones and jewellery.
