Field notes

What these projects are for

OR Tambo hub week field notes

Projects on BagLock are short field notes, not awards. We write them after a try-on counter, a stockist pilot, or a week spent watching how locks behave on real bags. OR Tambo hub week is about inspection calm and SACAA Duo resets. Observatory reset clinic is about Saturday codes set without a queue. Gym Clip Sea Point is about locker rhythm between sessions.

We keep the tone practical. If a cable snagged on a bunk frame, we say so. If a blush finish looked loud under airport halogen, we note it. Pilfering chatter around major SA airports comes and goes in the press; our answer stays the same: lock the boring layer, keep valuables with you, and choose the lock that matches softshell vs hard shell.

Use these notes when you are choosing a kit for a similar week. Then jump to Locks or Kits, or mail shop@baglock.co.za with your route.

What we check before we book

Domestic hops and Schengen weeks want different habits. Photograph the lock face after you set the code. Night shift at a hotel counter should not make up a new combination from memory. Pack a spare Gym Clip for the week between trips so travel locks stay on the suitcase.

Stockist counters go quieter when the finish card matches the lock in the tray. Highveld dust and coastal salt treat coated finishes differently. Wipe, inspect, then demo. A two-minute habit beats a scratched lid and an awkward refund chat.

Family kits work when every cable in the pouch has a labelled home. We pack a one-page start note that assumes the reader is tired at the airport. Do the boring code reset first. Skipping that step because the lock already moves is how odd faults appear after a good week.
